The distinct feature of this variant of Rummy is that each player scores the value of the sets he melds, in addition to the usual points for going out and for cards caught in other player’s hands. Gin Rummy is the format of Rummy game that is played between 2 players, but there is no hard and fast rule for it. More players can join the game but that will require more use of the deck. The objective of the game is to get rid of the cards quickly and the player, who does this, wins the game. Initially, each player is dealt 10 cards and the rest of the cards are kept as ‘stock’ pile, however the 21st card is kept face up to start the ‘discard’ pile
Contract Rummy
Contract Rummy is a type of Rummy that deals with a series of rounds. For every round, there is a requirement for a different contract wherein the players need to collect a certain combination of sequences and groups which are then permitted to meld. As the game progresses, the contracts become very demanding on every deal. The game is best played with three to five players and is considered optimum when there are four players in the game play.
